Hey! How you doing? Thanks for your response. As I said twice in this piece, I don't think Trump is an out and out fascist; he is an opportunist who sees or at least understands that fascist rhetoric, actions and ideology (if it can be such) works for him and gets him the power he craves.

You seem to admire his gambling attitude, but that doesn't make him a successful businessman, as he says he is, and many seem to believe - it makes a failed businessman and a poor judge of situations and character. Yet this is the man who will now be gambling with America's might, wealth and riches, not to make you or other 'everyday' Americans, apart from his family and billionaire buddies, richer or happier; it will be all to his own benefit and will serve his own purposes alone.

Having a bad gambler at the helm of the nation is likely to be a disaster in so many ways. As you quite rightly say, those around him may be brighter, better informed, more extreme right wingers/fascists (pick your label) than he is; at the moment he is listening to them and likely to take America, and perhaps much of the world along with it, into a very dark place from which the only way out will be violence, destruction, strife and suffering on a monumental scale. But this direction has always been apparent. The darkside of America's imperialist political and economic underbelly if you will; the racism, the obsession with money and the egotistical selfishness that is at the heart of capitalism, the great fear of anything remotely socialist or left wing, and the overwhelming belief that rules just don't apply to America or Americans have made them the richest, most powerful empire the world has ever known, but that wont insulate from what is to come.

As you say, we will see what Trump brings; my fear is that things will be far worse I have ever imagined. I hope I'm wrong.

Happy Holidays!

Peter
