Yup, that's true all across the West I believe, and whilst this is mentioned in some of literature it doesn't seem to be an overriding factor in declining birth rates. It seems that holidays, new cars, bigger houses, etc, are often times the reasons why the economic argument arises I think. Of course, every case is different, and not everyone will fit the pattern. But you're not wrong for sure!
