“If the Arabs put down their weapons today there would be no more violence. If the Jews put down their weapons today there would be no more Israel.”

Binjamin Netanyahu, borrowing a quote from Golda Meir.

The very same quote has been used as well to describe the Russo-Ukraine War;

‘If Russia lays down its weapons, there is no war. If Ukraine lays down its weapons, there is no Ukraine.’

There has been much written about Netanyahu’s government since he regained power at the end of 2022 with his cabinet being called the most far-right Israel has ever seen, and some authors suggesting that the end of Israeli democracy was nigh as the government lurched towards illiberalism, possibly even to the verge of fascism, putting him in the same ideological camp as Putin, Bolsanaro and Orban.
